ELDER SEAN SEVY - California, Sacramento Mission

We had another sweet experience. We knocked on a Hmong house and the mom answered the door. She said "Oh, I think you'd like to talk to Heather..." we first thought she was putting us off and letting us talk to someone else instead. But, when her daughter Heather came to the door, to our surprise, she said "These were the guys I was talking to you about." The mom started telling us that she used to be an active member in Sacramento but then got married and had to go to her husband's Hmong church (happens all the time with Hmong women; they have to follow their husband according to culture). So her family goes to CMA church but the mom said she wants her kids to be members of a church with good people and consistant wholesome doctrine (so tons and tons of Hmongs go to the CMA church just because all their friends and family go there whether they believe in it or not). So we came back, taught the family, and the mom and her two daughters Heather(16) and Helen(13). They loved it and had some fellowship at church, they are reading and praying and progressing. The best part is that the mom is always there to answer their questions and encourage them whether she'll be able to break off from her husband's church or not.
